MEL Unaffected by Chinese Export Licence Requirement

15|3|2012

MEL will be unaffected by the recent announcement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce regarding export licence requirements for zirconium oxide containing materials.

From the 1st January 2012, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, in Beijing, announced that all zirconium oxides and zirconium compounds containing >50% Zirconium Oxide by weight, will need a special export licence before they can be exported from China.

It is unclear whether a special licence application is required for each order, or simply held by the exporting company; there is the potential for supply delays and hence customer service issues.

MEL Chemicals manufactures all its zirconium oxides, yttria doped zirconia and rare earth doped zirconium in the UK & USA, hence ensuring our products will not suffer any potential supply or customer service issues from this new Chinese regulation.
